HOW TO JUMP BETWEEN CHAPTERS Some of my ebooks will have links in the Table of Contents. That is:
• Each chapter title there has blue underlining.
• You click on a chapter title, and the chapter appears – poof! But if you don't find links in your book, you can get around easily with the Reader's search function.
HOW TO NAVIGATE WITH SEARCH
• Decide on the word or phrase you want to get to.
For example, if the Table of Contents lists "Chapter VI. A Mysterious Stranger", you might plan to find "vi." or "chapter vi" or "mysteri".
• Press Ctrl-F. That is, simultaneously hold down the Ctrl key and the F key.
• The following region will be or appear on the screen:
![]()
• In the white box, type what you are looking for. For example, "chapter vi".
![]()
Press Enter or click "Next" on the button. Poof! you're there at "Chapter VI".
A LITTLE TRICK
Suppose you type "chapter" in the white box. If you keep pressing Enter or clicking "Next", you'll keep jumping to all the "Chapter"s – or "chapter"s or "CHAPTER"s – in the book.
This is a helpful strategy. I'm sure that with your own cleverness and ingenuity you can devise others.
AN ADDED BONUS
Learning to navigate by Search will pay off for you in another way. There are thousands of free ebooks available on the Internet. I tell you about them in the section called "A Magic Trick".
They generally don't have links, but they can all be searched by any word processor you use to display them.
